What you agree to when you connect a bank
Connecting a bank is your choice, and you can undo it at any time. This says what HomePool is given, what it does with it, and how to stop.
Last updated 16 October 20261. Who connects it
Your bank is connected through Basiq, the connection service HomePool uses. You choose your bank and give your consent on Basiq's own pages, not in HomePool.
HomePool never asks for your bank password, never sees it, and does not keep the keys Basiq uses to reach your bank.
2. What HomePool is given
For each account you agree to share: its name, what kind of account it is, its currency and its balance.
And its transactions: the latest 500 each time it syncs. For each one, the date, the amount, the bank's description, the merchant's name and the bank's category where the bank gives them, and whether it has cleared.
Nothing else. This connection only reads: it cannot move money, and cannot change anything at your bank.
3. What it is used for
To keep your balances up to date, to list your bank payments, to match them to the bills in your plan, and to suggest bills and income that repeat.
A suggestion is only a suggestion: nothing is added to your plan until you add it.
4. Who in your household sees it
A newly connected account is private to you: nobody else in your household sees it or its transactions.
You choose, account by account, whether to share it with the household under “Who can see it?”, and whether it counts in household planning.
5. If a model tidies the names
The HomePool team can switch on a model that tidies the names of payments that repeat. It is sent what your repeating payments look like (a label, a category, a usual amount and how often), anything unusual among them that it is asked to explain, and your largest kinds of spending over the last ninety days.
It is not sent your account numbers, your balances, the names of the people in your household, or the list of your transactions.
6. How long it lasts
Your consent has an end date, set when you give it. HomePool shows it on the Banking screen as “Consent expiry”.
When it ends, or when you withdraw it, HomePool is given nothing new. What it was already given stays until you remove it.
7. How to stop
“Manage consent” opens Basiq's page, where you can change what is shared or withdraw your consent.
“Remove connected banking” takes your connected accounts and their bank transactions out of HomePool, and asks Basiq to end HomePool's access. If Basiq cannot confirm that it has, HomePool tells you so, and you should withdraw at your bank as well.
You can remove it whatever membership your household has, including after a membership that had connected banking has ended.
8. What stays afterwards
Your accounts that you typed in yourself, your bills and your plan stay as they are.
A bill or an income that you added to your plan from a suggestion stays in your plan, because adding it made it yours.
9. Questions and complaints
You can ask the HomePool team about your bank data, or make a complaint, from this screen, whatever membership your household has.
Their answer arrives on your Support screen, and you are told when it does.
This is what HomePool shows you on its Banking screen before you connect a bank, and you can read it there again at any time.
