Delete your HomePool account
How to close your HomePool account on the web, what is deleted when you do, and what is kept.
Last updated 13 October 20261. How to do it
You delete your HomePool account yourself, by closing it in HomePool on the web. You do not need the phone app. HomePool calls this closing your account.
- Sign in to HomePool at app.homepoolapp.com with your email address and password. If you have forgotten the password, press “Forgot password” on the sign-in screen first.
- Open the menu at the top right, which shows your photo or your initials, and choose “Settings”. Under “Close your account”, read what closing will do, and press “Close my account…”.
- Type your password and press “Close my account”. If you have set up an authenticator app, its code is asked for as well. Nothing else has to be approved first. If you are the only person in your household, the button reads “Delete the household”.
Your account is closed when you confirm, and you are signed out. There is no waiting period and it cannot be undone. If you might want your plan again, download a copy before you start: at the foot of Home, press “Download a copy”.
2. What is deleted
Closing your account deletes your HomePool sign-in and what HomePool keeps for you as a person:
- the name, email address, mobile number and password on your account;
- your photo, if you added one;
- your sign-ins on every device, your passkeys and your authenticator set-up;
- your reminder and notification settings;
- your Luna Hindsight record, and the notices in your Tasks;
- bills, income, debts and goals you kept private, with the comments and files on them;
- accounts you kept private, and what was recorded in them;
- settle-up payments recorded between you and other people in your household.
If nobody else is in your household, the household is deleted with your account: its plan, everything recorded in it, its files and its history.
3. If other people are in your household
The household carries on for them. What the household shares stays, with your name taken off it: a shared bill you paid, or looked after, is still there for the others, with nobody named on it in your place. What you kept private in that household is deleted, as section 2 says. An account the household shares that came from a bank you connected stays, and is kept by hand from then on: your connection to the bank is deleted with your account. What you added or changed stays in the household's history under your name. A request for help that you sent to the HomePool team stays with the household's records.
If you are the household's Owner, HomePool asks you to hand the household over first. In “Security”, under “Household access”, press “Transfer ownership” beside the person who is to have it. That needs a fresh approval for “Role / access changes”.
These rules go by who belongs to a household, not by which one anybody has open. If you belong to more than one household, closing your account covers all of them at once: each one that nobody else belongs to is deleted, and each one that other people belong to carries on as this section says. You do not need to tell the HomePool team first. If you are the Owner of any household that other people are in, nothing is closed until you have handed that one over.
4. What closing your account does not do
- It does not cancel a paid subscription. If your household pays for a plan, cancel it first: from “Membership” in HomePool for a plan bought on the web, or in your app store's subscription settings for one bought in the phone app.
- It does not delete an enquiry you sent through this website: the waitlist, a contact form or a conversation with this website's Luna. Those are kept apart from your HomePool account. A request about one of them goes through Support.
Deletion is subject to what the Retention section of the Privacy Policy says about backups and legal requirements.
5. If you cannot do this yourself
If you cannot sign in, or HomePool will not let you close your account, press “Contact HomePool” on the Support page and tell the HomePool team what happened.
